In my courses, we often read literature that deals with the idea of not just blindly following the mob. We talk about how important it is to check everything they hear against Scripture to determine whether or not it is a biblical concept. In today’s SM age, I think this is vitally important.

I believe that it is important to discuss controversial topics with students from a biblical worldview based solely on scripture. I have found that this helps students better identify the fallacies of opinions, often based on bias and/or emotions, and hardly ever on facts. When students understand not just what they believe but also why they believe in God’s Word, and understand that God’s Word contains all of the answers that we’ll ever need, they are able to stand strong against the schemes that will try to attack their Christian faith.

I help my students to prepare for attacks by letting them know that attacks will come. I will remind them of stories in the bible that show the attacks that were made toward Jesus and His followers for their belief. One story I would use is how Jesus rebuked Satan by using the Word of God. This also show them why it is important to learn the word of God. Lastly, I will remind them to be passionate, but not mean.

I think it is important to simply remind students that their faith WILL come under attack… That we should EXPECT deception from the world and to identify what those deceptions are and talk about them in course… Reminding students that we live in a fallen world and that God is not surprised by it, but that giving into the world will inevitably draw us away from Christ- is another regular conversation to have in the classroom.

Give them opportunities to practice responding to eachother, look up scripture and discuss how to respond in love and not anger.
