Study and read the Bible in a disciplined manner. More importantly, model knowing Jesus intimately. No one is going to lay their life down for an imposter. Jesus must be real to the teacher thereby making faith real for the student.

Students have to have a strong faith and know the truth to be able to answer the hard questions about their Christian faith that they will be faced with in the real world.

One of the most important things to do is to memorize scripture to back up possible attacks. It is very important to know why we believe what we believe and where to go to show the truth of what we believe.

I would encourage my students to study the word of God and believe it and live it daily. Living the word daily will give you the strength to continue living daily for the Lord with confidence.

1- making sure they have read all of Scripture and are not surprised by difficult passages once they are adults or in college
2- challenge them to answer why. When they answer a question about God’s Word or a biblical principle, ask a follow-up that would inevitably come in the world. “How do you know that’s true?”, “How do you know the Bible is true?” “Why does that matter?” Don’t let a pat answer pass unless it is a student that genuinely struggles cognitively and does not have the ability to go further. Most students have become lazy in answering questions about faith because their parents have.
