Identify one or two ways you can help prepare your students for attacks on their Christian faith.

Equip them solidly and proactively with the Truth so that that alternative views are immediately discerned. In science, we are often able to present opposing views along with Scriptural truth.

I teach young children, so I hope to always make it clear they can ask their teachers, Church leaders, and their parents about life’s big questions no matter the age! I hope to take my own advice and continue to as big questions to those rooted in the truth!

During students’ senior year retreat, the teachers hold a Q and A sessions with several scenarios of what students could’ve faced in college which also include attacks on their faith. Teachers share on how each of them responded differently and I think it gives students examples on how to respond wisely.

Allowing a safe space for discussion is important in growing our students in the Lord. If we don’t give them reign to ask the hard questions to us, they will go elsewhere to find the answers. I don’t know about you all, but I would much rather give my students the answers they seek or give them trusted resources to find the answers. Anytime my students bring up an issue, I always share my philosophy, which I have tried my hardest to base on biblical principles, but I also point them to Scripture. Have them search what God’s Word says for themselves. Lastly, I always remind them to discuss it with their parents or their pastor. This allows them to gain another trusted adult’s perspective on the issue.
