Identify one or two ways you can help prepare your students for attacks on their Christian faith.

I can go over some of the common arguments with them and it would be important to know those but I would also encourage them to evaluate the situation and see if the person is even open to an honest discussion. I would encourage them to speak with a calm tone and talk about their personal experiences with the Lord. It hard to dispute someone else’s experience.

1. Help them identify their foundations and to strong on those foundations. For example God’s word is God’s word. You can trust it.
2. Week wise counsel. Remind them that they don’t yet have the experience to defend their faith against someone who has been on the attack for years and years. Seek wise counsel.

Through discussion of different worldview and opinions we can role-play conversations with people who do not have a Christian faith and foundation upon the Scriptures and Christ.

The first thing is to teach them Christian philosophy. The second thing is to help them identify false philosophies. The third thing is to teach them the art of rhetoric and rhetorical speech.

I think teaching students what God says about them gives them fortitude. The world is always pushing messages at us, telling us we need to look or behave a certain way or possess certain items to be of worth. Looking at God’s word to see how precious we are in His sight and the plans he has for us, makes us stand firmer and less afraid of what attacks may come. Teaching them their identity in Christ hopefully will also help students view others as precious too.
