I liked the suggestion made at the end of the lecture to bring up things that are happening within our own community and bring them before the students to talk about them and consider the differences between the world we live in and the kingdom that Christ talks about. How can the students make a difference in these situations, or within their community to prevent such situations?

Of course, teaching the truth as given in the Bible is important. I believe that teaching comparatively is also. We need to help students understand the world’s philosophies and think through the differences between the culture and a biblical worldview. We should be prepared with a ready defense of our faith.

One way that I can help prepare my students for attacks on their faith is to refer to Scripture and point out the Truths that contradict the fallen worldview. For example, the postmodern worldview says that people should accept that Truth is subjective and depends on how the situation makes the person feel. This is not the Bible’s teaching. Truth is solid and objective, because there is right and wrong.

One way to prepare students for attacks on their Christian faith is by planting the Word in them. This is why we memorize scriptures. When the fiery darts of Satan are thrown at us, we can draw from memory verses that we can stand strong on.
