If the teacher is accessible I will ask questions and present scriptural bases to demonstrate error, but with gentleness and respect.
If the teacher is not accessible I will avoid further exposure to such teaching.

I am not a theologist, but I count on the Holy Spirit to help me to discern teachings that are in error, that don’t correlate to the teachings of Jesus and what is found in the Bible. When it doesn’t feel right, I leave it alone and move ahead. I cannot quote scripture but I do have the teaching of it in my heart and head, and I count on the Spirit to point me in different directions when something doesn’t feel right in my heart.

I respond based on what I feel from the person. If they are stubbornly fighting to convince me of their truth that contradicts the Word, regardless of anything I say, I end the conversation with love and walk away. If a person appears to genuinely want to discuss because they are trying to understand, then I try to point them to GOD’s Word.

I believe that God has had me on a learning curve for several years now because I used to be that in-your-face person who beat folks about the head and shoulders with the Bible. God has guided me to calm down, be at peace with all and teach the Truth in love.
