In 3 John we learned how to deal with someone teaching false doctrine. How do you respond to teachings that contradict Scripture?

I would lovingly try to point out truth.

I teach God’s truth in love. I pray for the individual.

I try to gently correct someone who may have the wrong idea about the scriptures, but if in get pushback from them, I let it go. I don’t argue scripture or debate it with others.

In the past I have either hesitated to confront them or confronted them in a way that was not always loving. As my walk has progressed and I have learned more and gained more wisdom I have seen that to not confront them in love is less fruitful and it lacks showing that I am obedient to Gods word.

When I confront false teaching, it makes me angry. I do not balance truth with love, which is what John teaches.It’s one thing dealing with followers of a different faith, for whom I have more sympathy and patience to teach the Gospel. However it is the false teaching within the church that upsets me.
