In 3 John we learned how to deal with someone teaching false doctrine. How do you respond to teachings that contradict Scripture?

Respond with the truth in love

I recognize the heresy of what they say, and if they are younger and I have a relationship with them I lovingly correct them or teach them more. If I don’t have a relationship with them I usually say nothing. I feel that they need to see my life before I can challenge them so as to not be a double edge sword cutting in the wrong direction.

sadly, I have handled teachings that were false very poorly. I am learning to speak the truth in love and leave the rest to Holy Spirit. Thankfully, i am not in any form of church leadership at this point of time to need to address false teachers

Dealing with false doctrine is difficult. I can sometimes be fearful, but Christ is helping me to learn scripture and the context for its use, so that I can respond with His truth in love.

I respond with “The Bible says…” and don’t impose my own judgement on what that person is saying.
