Paul was sure wolves would arise because of his time and work in the ministry. There were certain group who had arisen from among the Jews that went about trying to discredit the work God was doing through Paul. Paul had even seen on an occasion or two where the efforts of these wolves had actually taken root. As a leader/pastor/under shepherd, we have to be very careful who we allow access to feed and come in among the flock. We also have to be careful on where they go and who they might be casually fellowshipping with. As a leader /pastor/shepherd, we must be a person of the word and of prayer. The word for instruction and prayer for discernment and spiritual guidance. With this, we can recognize wolves and protect the flock before any damage is done.

I believe that it is so important to stay in the word of God. (Psalm 119:105) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” As a shepherd to my flock, (men’s group)I need to be on the look for both false teachers and teachings. I use a sponsor or mentor to help guide me.

Then I would implement a program where men sharpen men. As a group we must keep the focus on Jesus.

Watching so you won’t be deceived or led astray. Watch and pray that God would reveal those who are not His. Understanding that we are God’s and are not without His protection and His love. However, we are to guard our hearts. Remain in God’s word, encourage each other in the faith to be steadfast and unmovable as Paul encourages us to be.

Wolves are those used by the Devil to derail us from following Christ. They come in several forms false teachers, pastors and Ministers of the Gospel, charmers, etc. We can easily identify them by where they place Christ in their teaching. The Bible says anybody who does not teach that Christ is God come in the form of man is a false teacher or prophet.e
