If I know the historical, syntax, literary and cultural norms I then can understand how the ancients thought and understood the message that they recieved, so that I can know how they recieved it.

It is a huge help into understanding the depth of details that would be missed you didn’t look.

These steps help us to better understand the passage of scripture by giving specific deals. It is important to know and understand the author’s intentions by studying the historical aspect of the scripture. It is equally important to understand the grammatical structure of the text; the punctuation and parts of speech used which emphasizes a meaning. I learned here that understanding the genre and culture will help in understanding a passage as we prepare to properly interpret and apply the study.

It allows us to see what is going on at the time of the writing. Historical is the history while cultural would tell us everything going on from the standpoint of government, family, place, etc. literary tells us the genre of the writing and that ties into the grammatical aspect of the writing.
