These studies help to ensure that we are not misunderstanding the text as it is written. Without understanding these backgrounds, we cannot properly understand or interpret the meaning of any passage.

It helps us understand the context of the passage allowing to better understand what is going on, and how to apply it to our life.

It gives us some answers to initial questions we might have or get caught up on to better begin understanding our observations and questions as we dig deeper. It also helps us see how the whole of Scripture connects with itself and how it is one big story God is telling about Himself!

It allows us to have a deeper understanding of the author’s message within a specific passage.

They help us to know more specifically how to examine a part of scripture. They give context for multiple parts of the passage that then allow us to go deeper in understanding.
