How does a historical, grammatical, literary, and cultural study of a passage help guide the micro-observation step of Bible study?

These different steps helps provide context and understanding to each passage individually. Understanding the historical, grammatical, literary and cultural side of the passage helps us to keep the interpretation honest and true to the Word without taking it out of context into our context today.

We need to develop each of these practices of study in order to more fully understand a given passage within the context it was written. All of these categories offer a bit of perspective that come together to give us a full clear picture of what’s going on.

It forces us to view the all context of the written text and to focus on the people and their culture, the time it was written and the language to avoid any misinterpretation that would lead us astray.

It gives us a meaning to a passage that we can understand within context. Otherwise we could misinterpret a Scripture and end up falling into a delusion.

Doing so forces us to focus on the details of the text we are studying.
