both became confident in their own abilities and authority, forgetting that the Lord was their King, even though they were made into kings to rule Israel under God. they both disregarded God’s rule over themselves

We need to know that we cannot do this without God. It’s not our plan but His!

Anytime we allow fear into our spirit we take our eyes and trust off of God. Saul’s fears led to jealous and madness. Solomon’s eyes were on his women that allowed other god worship to corrupt Israel. Both cause them ruin.

SAUL: Fail to trust God – when we begin to rely on self we become disobedient to God.
SOLOMON: Mingling with the wrong people – when Solomon took foreign wives, he fell into idolatry

Saul and Solomon were both significantly influenced by the things of this world while David was primarily concerned with knowing, trusting, and living his life in worship to God.
