In considering Saul and Solomon, the spiritual hazards we should avoid are in allowing others to move us away from or weaken our faith and in luxurious living at the expense of or in disregard of others’ plight.

For Saul, when we see that hand of God moving we should not fall into the trap of rejecting it. It seems much of the sin of the Pharisees was because they refused to acknowledge the work of God when it did not fit their narrow definition of correctness.

Both started out well but did not finish well. Saul let jealousy destroy him and Solomon let pleasure destroy him.

The spiritual hazards that both Saul and Solomon possessed were vanity, selfishness, and being prideful. None of these things are beneficial.

We should avoid idols, pride, and letting our sin life conquer us instead of mastering our sin.
