We should avoid trying to live on our own, without the leading of the Holy Spirit. We should avoid knowingly sinning against God, and if we do, we need to confess it to God and turn away from it.

In Saul’s case, the spiritual hazard is pride and with Solomon idolatry, greed and lust.

Saul was prideful, jealous, he sought advice from mediums, he plotted murder. Solomon spoiled himself, he married women who didn’t know the Lord and he participated in their rituals. All pitfalls that present themselves to us today.

We should avoid , jealousy, pride and selfishness , as seen in both cases of Saul and Solomon

The lessons we learn from Saul would be that coveting another (Jealsouly) should be avoided and Solomon teaches us that subjecting ourselves to false religions and living wastefully is not living like God wants us too.
