In briefly considering Saul and Solomon, what spiritual hazards should we avoid?

1. Using what God has placed in our hands for our own use, whether that be our positions, our material goods, our gifts.
2. Straying from God and His guidance and remembering that we need Him in every day, in every thing. -
I would say the biggest hazard would be straying too far from God and His will. Saul and Solomon became grand in their own eyes and failed to let God lead them. We can’t please God, nor carry out His will, on our own – under our own power, using our own ideas. We absolutely must surrender all of our self to Him and keep focus on Him alone.

We should avoid the sins of pride and greed. The Bible states that pride cometh before a fall. We will never last long if we are full of pride. Greed sets us apart from God for it means we are not satisfied with what He gives us. He knows what is best for us and what we can handle. We just need to trust Him.

We should be careful to follow God’s ways and not allow for the “outside world” to influence our beliefs and actions. We should always seek biblical counsel and wisdom over other beliefs or ideas.

Pride and self-sufficiency separate us from the sovereign, powerful, holy God who is in control of all things and the giver of all good things.
