In briefly considering Saul and Solomon, what spiritual hazards should we avoid?

Saul as described in the Bible was the physical specimen. He was the guy who walks into the room and people take notice because he looks the part naturally from human eyes. Go watch any youth sports team, the best physical athlete a lot of times gets thrust into leadership even though they are the worst leader. I loved the line in the training we see our own envy of those who replace us. Biblical wisdom says we should be looking to be replaced, not holding on.
And Solomon is the great case of why wisdom without Godly character is always a recipe for disaster.

Arrogance, believing that we can do anything apart from the Lord.

We should guard our hearts against pride. As well as keeping our ours on our true leader, boasting only in our weakness like paul says.

We should avoid idolatry and pride in our hearts and keep away from worshiping false Gods

We should not rest on our being assigned positional leadership. We should not rest on our own thoughts or abilities. Both became ineffective for these reasons. We should put all our trust in God and rely and lean on him for guidance, wisdom, and direction with a humble spirit and an open heart and will.
