In briefly considering Saul and Solomon, what spiritual hazards should we avoid?

We should avoid thinking we’re greater than God and go our own way. We should not forget all the power and wealth he give us is by his command and through his love. We should not abuse this.

Solomon compromised the beliefs of the people by bringing in other wives and concubines from other countries that influenced idol worship. His position was one of honor but did not equal his ability as a leader. Although he succeeded his father David and Israel was profitable and wealthy, Solomon squandered the wealth of the nation and led the people away from their faith in God
Saul struggled with anger and envy against being overshadowed by the people’s recognition of David’s accomplishments in warfare. Saul’s physical stature did not match his abilities as a leader of the people of Israel and he failed to command the respect of the people. Because the favor was given to David Saul’s envy even made him a more ineffective King. -
