If we do not follow his teachings and way of life he has taught us, we are going directly against Him. If we claim to be Christians, we have to live that out and be examples.

Because the teachings are instructions for living a Chirstian life. All of the work which goes into the scriptures as far as publishing materials to help us learn scripture is not done in vain. The hard work should produce good fruit (Galatians 5:22-24).

Living a life in Jesus transforms one to be more like Him. If you are not living in a way that looks more and more like Him, then the Holy Spirit is not at work in you, which is a sign that something needs to change. When we have become more like Christ, it will not just be a desire to live life the way He taught us, but it will become as second nature.
-
Because living what you believe gives you the conviction that what you believe is your reality. Jesus, their lips say, “Lord, Lord,” but their hearts are far from mine.
- If we say we have fellowship with Him while we live in darkness, we lie
- If we say we know him and does not do what He commands, we lie.
- Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
- Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother or sister is still in darkness.
- If anyone says, “I love God and hate his brother, he is a liar.”
- Those who live in fellowship with Jesus and do what he teaches are genuine followers.

Faith without works is dead. If we do not live a Christian life, then you should examine whether you are a true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
