There are five points we must examine about ourselves as interpreters: faith, illumination, qualification, humility, and awareness. Which of these five do you believe has the greatest influence on you as you interpret a Bible passage? How does it help you when you interpret a passage? How does it hinder you?

Of these five points, I believe that Illumination has the biggest influence on me when I interpret any Bible passage. I read the passage carefully and allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten me to the truest interpretation of it. Since the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the Word of God directly, then I am assured that He knows what anything contained in the Bible actually means (in the past, present, and future). Illumination gives me confidence in my study of the Bible and does not hinder me in any way. However my own awareness and pre-understandings can sometimes be a hinderance for me. In those cases, I want the passage to mean exactly what I want it to and not necessarily what the Lord means for it to mean.

I do not think that either of the five will turn out to be easier or harder than the other. Awareness is just something I need to work on. I must remember that God works slow so I should never feel rushed to complete any task. Sometimes when I rush, I become less focused and more unaware of my surroundings.

it helps you get different parts of a bible message or text by getting a good understanding and reading of each one the text you are wanting to interpret or really get what it says .

Faith plays an important role to me. Since I believe God, then it is easy for me to believe what is written in the Bible. Knowing this helps me in my interpretation of a passage in that I have a choice to obey or not.
