The Children of Israel wandered the wilderness due to their disobedience. They refused to move into the land of Promise because as Dr. Buzzell states “they feared the giants more than they trusted God” (Num. 13:1-14:4).

Numbers explains the lack of faith due to fear, and God’s judgment. To wander in the wilderness until the doubting generation had died off and the next generation under Joshua came to be. This generation would inherent what their father were promised by thr Lord.(40 years)

The Israelite didn’t trust God when he told them he had given them the Promise Land to cross over the Red Sea. They sent out spies to check out the situation whom 4 of 10 came back with reports of the enemy being greater and they would be defeated. Therefore they wandered in the desert for 40 years still with God providing Mana and water. Once all the leaders of that time died the people followed their new prophets into the Promise Land.

Because of their disobedience, doubts and lack of trust in the Lord
