In the book of Numbers, we learn that the Israelites wandered aimlessly in the wilderness for a generation. Why?

He left the Israelites to wander aimlessly in the desert because they disobeyed Him until that generation that disobeyed God died off. God is silent towards leading them to where he has promised them.

Because they refuse to go forward into the land God had promised to give them because of the discouraging report they received from 10 of the 12 spies.

They chose to believe in 10 spies’ negative news about land of Canaan which is considered impossible conquest, and sending doubts and distorting in their belief even they witnessed God’s work in their life but they chose to fall for humankind’s negative messages than to put in faith in God. So therefore, it is always good lesson to evaluate how we react when situations apparently impossible where put us in full trust in God.

B/c of their disobedience of God, they prayed for God not to send them into Canaan b/c of the giants there, which meant they did not trust God enough so they could not receive their blessings and inheritance
