They refused to believe GOD and His promises. They rebelled and prayed to GOD to not let them go into the land. So GOD answered their prayer and let them wander in the wilderness for 40 years.

Because they refused to obey God by entering the promised land.

We are all sinners due to the fall, and sin entering the world. The Israelites were too afraid to listen to God, they felt that the giants were bigger/harsher than our great God.

Because they did not believe in God message to enter into the promise land when it was time. They prayed to God to not make them go up against the Canaanites.
