The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for a generation because 10 of the 12 spies gave a bad report, and the Israelites chose to believe that report rather than the promise God had made them regarding the land of Canaan.

In the video, it says meaningless wandering. It was not meaningless or even aimless. God was raising up a new generation whom had never known slavery, whom had only ever known to trust God’s provision, care, and discipline. Nothing God does is meaningless or aimless.

The Israelites did not trust God’s Promise and were punished for their doubt. That generation did not deserve the gifts God was looking to bestow them.

Because of their doubt in God and faithlessness, they had to wait until the old generation died before they could enter the promised land.
