Because they disobeyed God by not wanting to go in the promised land. They prayed to God because they thought they could not defeat the giants. God granted their prays so for 40 years they were wondering in the desert,

BEcause they were continuouslly rebellious to the Lord and the questioned, disbelieved and denied the Lord’s promise of the Promised Land. They prayed not to enter the Promised Land because of their fear of the giants, and the Lord conceded them their prayer.

They wandered because they rebelled and refused to go into Canaan, the land God had promised them. They were scared of the Giants in the land, and didn’t trust God to bring them through. They prayed for God to not let them inhabit the land and He answered their prayers. Because of their rebellion, they wandered aimlessly until an entire generation died.

Because they have lack in faith and trust in God about what He promised to them.
-
Because they were disobedient to God and therefore until that generation passed God would not slow them to enter.
