In short, they did not believe in the God who followed them and performed amazing miracles in their sight throughout their year in the wilderness, not to mention the time in Egypt during which they witnessed God’s plagues done there against the Egyptians

Deleted User04/20/2024 at 03:14The Israelites wandered aimlessly in the wilderness for a generation because they did not put their faith and trust in God. Thinking and believing that they were not strong enough to take over the promised land – God then said as a consequence they would never see the promise land and so they wandered until they had all died. This is why their children (next generation) then were able to move into the promised land as God had declared earlier.

Deleted User03/27/2024 at 15:25The Israelites were forced to wander in the wilderness for forty years because of their doubt and disobedience regarding taking control of the promised land. God decreed that nobody of age that had seen the promised land would be allowed entry into it. So, they wandered aimlessly until that generation died off and their children were allowed to enter Canaan.
