Israeli wondered in the desert because they didn’t trust God. They got angry against Moses and they wanted to go back to Egypt.

The Israelites were afraid of the people who were already living in the promised land. They did not have faith in God, or believe that God could protect them. They were too afraid, and God punished their disbelief.

Israel’s wandering was a consequence of the sins of the eldest generation. Due to their faithlessness when the Lord instructed them to defeat Canon as was their promised land, they were sent to wander until the faithless had passed and a new generation rose into leadership, with Caleb and Joshua.

The Israelites ended wandering in the desert because of their lack of obedience to God. They didn’t believe that God would actually bring them into the land that they were promised so they wandered the dessert until that generation had died off and a new generation came forth.

They did not put their faith in God, but chose disobedience over trust in Him. Because of this, God said that the generation would not be able to inherit the Promised Land, so they were disciplined by wandering aimlessly in the desert. Only once the generation that chose to disobey him was gone, could the new generation inherit what had been promised to them.
