In the book of Numbers, we learn that the Israelites wandered aimlessly in the wilderness for a generation. Why?

The Israelites did not trust God enough to believe that God could help them to defeat the Canaanites. They prayed not to enter the promise land so the Lord let them roam the desert for 40 years. I think that God was upset that the Israelites didn’t believe that he would have made it work out in their promise Land if they just believed and followed the law.

They didn’t trust God and let fear keep them from doing what He told them to do.

They had forgotten what Moses had told them about God’s provision and promises. They took it upon themselves to decide what is best for them.

They wondered all those years because God simply answered their prayers and did not force the older generation to enter into Canna and accept the fruits of GODs promase. They wondered until the last of those who were afraid to trust in GOD had passed away and the next generation was ready to trust and accept GODs word.
