In the section “Settlement: Seeing God,” what truth about God impressed you the most? Why?

He has the power to turn formidable objects into safe pathways. That brings comfort and confidence to me in God’s power and His ability to care for His people.

What happened at Jericho still gets me as an adult. God gives some pretty outrageous directions to march around the city for 7 days and the whole thing falls to bits. Rahab’s role in this blows me away as well. Anyway, God will give directions that don’t make sense and use certain people to bring those plans to pass that no one would normally pick. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

God’s fatherly role to His people. He is so much more than us in every way and yet comes down to our level to provide protect and guide us.

God’s faithfulness and love. Because no matter what the people are like, God still helps them teach them and defends them against their enemies. He was also faithful to fulfill His promise to the father of the Jewish people, Abraham.

That he has the ability and right to create and destroy. This truth helps me visualize God as “in command” of the universe rather than thinking that myself or other humans are in control.
