Simply, the fact that God keeps His promises. When speaking about the story of Jericho, it is a phenomena that is truly hard to believe–primarily because His faithfulness is apparent even though ours may not be. So often in my life I have failed God and in repentance and submitting to Him, I am always ready to receive punishment to the fullest, and have time and time again seen His love and grace be extended to me, even in my darkest moments. His promise through the cross at Calvary is something that I may not always understand, but it truly impresses and “wows” me every time I encounter it.

Although I know God has the power and control of all things, what made me think was the fact that he can change history. That’s one way of seeing how big our God is!!!

All of these are known about God, but the one that hit me hardest was that God has the power to turn formidable obstacles into safe pathways. The reason is I have many obstacles in life at the moment, and while I have turned to the New Testament many times, I haven’t previously considered the magnitude of what God did for His people during settlement.

The truth about God that He is loving and kind, but also a God of righteousness, justice and anger. This truth impressed me because so many in the Body of Christ have the idea that they can do what they want, say what they want, and live any kind of way thinking that there are no consequences for their actions.

In the account of Israel’s crossing the Jordan River, one can observe many truths about God. The most impressive one to me is that God keeps his promises. When one makes a commitment to someone else, the two live out the intended promise. To me to keep a promise means both people are held in high esteem and respect for one another. In this example Joshua, showed his faith in God as he led the Israelites to the promised land of Canaan. This is Joshua’s renewal to follow the Lord and worship him only. What a great lesson in faith!
