How would you describe the differences between the process of doing macro- and micro-observation?

It sounds like a simple explanation, but macro looks at a big picture and decides what is going on. Micro looks at one corner and details how it fits.

My simple definition between macro and micro observation. Is that in the macro observation you’ve found the mineral mine. And the micro observation you found the gem.

Marco is where I look at the big picture where as Micro is more focused on one area.
-
Marco is more big picture study and micro is getting down to the specifics.

The differences between the process of doing macro- and micro-observation are:
The former gives a telescopic view of the book, the latter a microscopic view of a passage.
The former searches for the author/recipients of the whole book, the time/place it was written. The latter only looks at the characters, places, time mentioned in this specific passage.
The former searches for the major theme of the book, and hence why it was written. The latter searches for the one big idea in this passage, and why it appears here to contribute to the whole theme of the book.
Hence the former produces an outline of the whole book, the latter a structure of this specific passage.
