Remembering all that God has done for me helped sustain my faith.

I have never actually been tempted to give up my faith to the point of actually considering it as something In would do. But I have had many try knowingly and unknowingly try to get me to do just that. I can only credit some of the sound teaching that I received early in my walk and an urging to be grounded in scripture with me not being willing to strongly consider abandoning my faith as an option.

I can’t recall a time when I was tempted to abandon my faith in Jesus. Even now I may get distracted, there have been times when I stopped going to church or read in hmm the bible, but deep in my heart I knew and know Jesus is the Christ and Savior of the world. I always pray even when I’m distracted with life. I can’t imagine life without Jesus.

Faith can be tested by many things, and most Christians, myself included, have been tempted to give up. Tests come through suffering the trials and tests of a fallen world; they come through false teaching and doctrinal error; they even come from judgemental criticism from fellow believers. To sustain faith, one has to be strong in doctrine, to feed daily on God’s Word, to strive to live a good life despite the trials, and to maintain strong fellowship with mature Christians. Finally, the main issue is to rest in God’s love, strength and truth through the Holy Spirit.

No, I have not. But there have been times when I yielded to temptation and felt unworthy so I stopped praying and reading the bible. However, the Lord always found a way to bring me back toward him and now my faith is stronger than ever.
