One of my favorite miracles was feeding the 5000, and one of the parables I often share with new believers is the Parable of the Prodigal Son.

Jesus’ first miracle was turning the water into wine. It was something that transcended the ordinary powers of nature. One of Jesus’ parables was The Good Samaritan. This particular parable teaches us all that it is important to care for others, no matter their status or religion. Only by loving and caring do we reach others for Christ.

Through miracles Jesus showed that He is God. His healing of the woman with the issue of blood is amazing. It also showed people that their physical issue did not make them sinners, but a heart condition did. Jesus would say then same they were forgiven. It is also interesting to note that Jesus healed people in different ways.
The parables are a great way to reveal truth and apply it to your life. I often refer back to the prodigal son. God welcomes us with open arms despite our sin and saves us.

Though there were many of both miracles and parables in the Gospels, here are two of my favorites. The miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead which was a foreshadowing of His own resurrection. I am partial to the parable of the Good Samaritan. It reminds us to be kind to all people, even those who cannot repay us or may not particularly be our friends.

Miracles occurred beyond natural law. As a science teacher, I live in a lot of black and white, so believing in these shows truth. Through parables, when we separate the story from the truth, we can clearly see the teachings.
