I teach high school math to homeschool students online. Our teachers email the parents to keep them informed about our courses, assignments, and how their student is doing. Parents are welcome to join their student in our courses. Teachers are also available to talk or text by phone. Parents, along with students, have access to a OneNote notebook that has all of the student’s assignments for the course. Our mission is to provide home educating families access to excellent math instruction with consistent accountability and expert feedback. In our latest survey, 99.7% of the parents would recommend our courses to a friend.

Our school continually offers free courses for parents: Kids & Social Media, Finance Courses, Bible Studies, etc. Our school invites our parents to be a part of what we are doing regularly as well. We love parent volunteers!

We have marching practice Monday nights in the fall. Parents noted the difficulty of picking up their child, only to have to return in the evening. We began providing dinner for the kids, so they could stay, and it made it easier on the parents.

We are a university model school and parents are considered co-teachers. We have to work together with them – we must view them as partners and not adversaries!
Most of the time, it is wonderful! Occasionally problems arise. -
I feel we can do sooooo much better and loved the ideas provided in this section. Can’t wait to do a better job equipping parents starting with parent connect night.
