I am at a new school and have only taught there during Covid 19 where the parents were not allowed on campus and we ourselves were often not on campus. In my previous school parents were required to volunteer 20 hours each year. This could be done at fundraisers, helping the teachers do anything from copying papers to running parties or any number of other things. They also had a coffee bar once a week. I think this really helped to unify the school and make the parents feel a part of the process while contributing valuable assistance.

We partner a lot with parents and families in school, after school activities, sports etc..
Families and teachers together are the heart of our school. We work the together for the best of our Christian students

We emphasize that we partner with parents and families in helping them raise their kids with a biblical worldview. In recent years, we have seen families commit time and other resources to the continued growth of those within our school community.

In our weekly elementary newsletter, many articles and tips are given to educate parents about various topics. Recently a guidance counselor has been added to our staff to meet with troubled students and their families if desired. The guidance counselor personally met with some of my students and communicated with me and the student’s parents about how their child was feeling about particular issues which was very beneficial for everyone.

I have only worked at this school for two years, and they were Covid years, so I didn’t see a lot of work with parents. There are two things that we did in those two years in regards to communication. The 1st was monthly emails communicating with parents specifically about their student. The second thing is called “circle the wagon”. This occurs in the morning before school starts with the student, the parents, and the teachers. It usually only happens when there are issues with the student’s behavior or academics.
