1. Local congregation 2. Universal Church 3. Assembly/Gathering

1. A political council of free citizens
2. The second use is the Jewish collection of Old Testaments
3. The third usage is the Christian Church, and that’s of course how we use it, and most other New Testament passages refer to the Christian Church in a universal or local form.

1. Acts 19: political assembly of citizens
2. Acts 7: Jewish Assembly
3. Local church

The New Testament uses the word ecclesia in the following senses:
1) Ecclesia as the gathering together of the people of God in the old covenant
2) Ecclesia as the free people gathered
3) Ecclesia as the people of God gathered together by Christ; -
Political assembly, Jewish assembly, and local church assembly
