I welcome each student to course each morning. They always have some adventure to describe to me each day. I have one student who at the beginning of this school year never had anything to say. Now he comes into the room and starts telling me about his night or weekend without me even having to ask him.

As an administrator the daily interacts with students are not as frequent as a teachers. However, those interactions I attempt to make as meaningful as possible. Being aware of every student in the area and also focusing in on the direct student I am interacting with. I find that calling students by names lights up the students face. Having the assistant principle know your name in a positive way really boosts students spirits, in my experience.

My principle said that one of my giftings is for relationship with the students. I enjoy the kids and I am frequently a go to when they get into a pickle or need to talk.

Every day I welcome my students at the door. and I check hands. I do my best to be well prepared, we do daily devotions, I asked personals questions. we share news, I allowed time to help students who are struggling, I spend lunch ti,e with students and I make myself available after school.

I listen to my students, ask them about their lives, and support them in their outside of the classroom interests/pursuits. This builds bridges with students, especially the ones that have a hard time controlling their bodies in course.
