I work to include each student and make them feel like a part of our course community. I work to connect individually with each student, even if just through eye contact and smiling during a course period or in the hallway. I encourage students to share how they are feeling and what their interests are. I listen and respond when students are taking a lot of tests one day and need a break, or if they need more practice with a concept. I tell my students I love teaching them and I’m glad they’re in my course.

Reminding them of God’s love for them; that He loves them even when they make mistakes. Reminding them of God’s grace and forgiveness through Jesus.
I tell them how much I love being their teacher and how blessed I feel God brought them into my life for this year of learning and growing together.
To help my students feel valued I listen closely to let them know I hear them and empathize with their feelings; so they feel their feelings are important.
Every morning I greet each student by name and will tell them I’m so glad you’re here, or we missed you glad you’re back.
First thing during attendance I make sure each student has a lunch and snack for the day, I keep healthy snacks so no one goes without a snack and we contact parents if lunch was forgotten to bring or allow the child to buy lunch that day. Showing my students their well-being is very important to me.
