I make my students feel valued by valuing God’s truth about them: they all can learn. In the season that God gives me influence in students’ lives, I demonstrate their value by helping them know God, gain academic skills, and build their faith.

I make my students feel valued by asking them questions and giving them the freedom to respond with their own beliefs. I also make my students feel valued by creating an environment in the classroom that allow students to share their faith and ask questions about creation and God’s universe. I make students feel valued by teaching them that God values them for who they are.

1. In what ways do you make your students feel valued? I acknowledge their uniqueness, I listen to their comments with interest. I make sure they know that God created them and made them special and unique and that he knows even the smallest detail about them. I challenge them and hold them to a higher standard.

I make sure that everyone in my classroom let’s the person I am asking the question answer in their own time. Even if there is an awkward silence. We all process things differently and we must let each one try on their own. I want them to feel valued and that it’s ok to be different in how we process a material.

I value their input and choices. I often let them explain their perspective on things or I listen to them when they have a disagreement. I try and offer them choices when it comes to academics so they can take accountability for their learning.
