I remind them that they are created in God’s image, and that they are winners. I encourage them to do their best at all times, because that makes God, their parents and me proud of them. In addition, they can have a great sense of fulfillment and accomplishment, since they too can be proud of themselves.

I listen to them and to look at God’s word for direction. I also love on them!

I make it a point to tell them that God has placed us together for this time and it is not an accident. I also try to remind them that I love them as brothers and sisters in Christ, that is the way I see them. I want them to know Christ as Savior and to grow in His grace, mercy and love.

I try to encourage them at their very low moments. Every now and then we need each other to lift our spirit and to work harder. Our Students and students from other grade levels need to be encouraged daily.

I make sure my students have the resources to be successful in my course. For students who have different learning styles, I will work to meet them where they are. I hold them accountable and work to impress upon them that in life, there are consequences for our actions (or inactions). When they request it, I will always give them my time.
