I can form relationships with them by allowing them to tell me about life outside the classroom. Knowing who they are and what they are dealing with outside the classroom makes a difference.

Value is given from the moment they walk in the classroom. Because I teach Spanish and need them to hear the language, they hear daily affirmations as they walk through the door, first in Spanish and then translated to English. We also use the Bible as the foundation for language learning and memorize scriptures that express value in our opportunity and ability to learn.

I tell my kids they are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.

I let them know every day that they are loved and that I am so happy they are in my classroom. I make sure to find something during that class that they have did well and I encourage them to use their God given talents in ways that benefit the greater good.

This is my goal every single day in the classroom to make my students feel loved. I remind them that God created them for a reason and that they are so precious. I love each one of the students that God puts into my classroom. I learn their names, fun facts about them, I hug them, give them fist bumps, make handshakes with them, and I sing and dance with them. I want them to know I care about them, but most importantly that they are God’s children and he will always love and care about them.
