In what ways do you make your students feel valued?

Everyone has different ideas due to the senses, but teaching them through God’s word is all those “unknown” questions. Christian teachers must do it with love, teaching what God created with faith, love, and patience.

I will tell my students that they are all made in the image of God and God is the one who has given all the students the highest and best value. God-given value is sufficient for us. I will appreciate the heart and the will of the student who wants to learn more.

Teaching them that there is a God that loves them. In God’s eyes they are filled of value according to what scripture states because we are the image of God.

I make sure to include and share praise or ask for thoughts from my students who are more marginalized for one reason or another (disability, academic struggles, anxiety, low self-esteem, etc.). I take the time to address comments that are harmful to people of different races or abilities. We talk about how every person is valuable and it’s not ok to make jokes at others’ expense.

By listening to them. It amazes me that students will often express, “Your one of the adults that actually listens to me.” I value my students by letting them know, I see you. I hear you. Your voice matters in this community.
