My belief in Jesus Christ influences my interactions with my students, colleagues, and families of my students. I do my best to live like Christ by showing love and patience. I am thankful for the opportunities to pray before each course begins and pray specifically for what is on the hearts and minds of the students. At times, students ask a biblical questions seemingly out of the blue, and we are able to address it together. My faith enables me to look at the broader picture of eternity as I teach my courses and interact with my students.

My favorite aspect of Christ for my classroom is to share the forgiveness of repentant sin through Christ’s forgiveness in faith. I love to share that while we are still sinners, we are forgiven as faithful and repentant sinners through His mercy. I use my own mistakes to take the time to ask for forgiveness from my students so they can see it in action. I find that admittance of my failures help my students to be willing to go to their peers and apologize when they sin themselves.

My belief in Jesus Christ has an impact in all areas of my classroom, but one of them is how I treat and view my students. I view my students as children of the Lord. He has trusted me to care for them, and placed them in my classroom. I know they have value in the Lord and because of that I am respectful to them. I try to love them as Christ loves us. My love for them is not perfect like the Lord’s. However in those moments when I do not feel as loving to my students, my prayer to the Lord is to place His love for them in my heart, and renew the patience and love in me to teach them the best way I can.

One way my belief in Jesus Christ influences my classroom is by seeing my students as children that God has entrusted to me to lead and guide according to His word. Even when I worked in public schools, I would pray for my student’s salvations and was honored to have them with me for that school year because I might be the only example of Jesus Christ that they might see.

Our veiws on Jesus Christ should change how we interact with our students, coworkers, and families. Each person we interact with on a daily basis is a loved child of God. Jesus Christ came as the ultimate sacrifice for each person. When dealing with a particular student this last year I found myself pulling him aside yet again to talk about how he was acting in the classroom. I found myself just telling him that he is a loved child of God and that Jesus cares about his life. Instead of really addressing the isuss at hand I was sharing the gospel with him and telling him God has a plan for his life. The beauty of working in a Christian School I was able to do this. I found, not only did it help his behavior that day, it changed how I viewed him. My belief in Christ helps me have a more loving view of those around me.
