In what way(s) does your belief in Jesus Christ currently influence your classroom?

Every day I witness the confusion that our students are experiencing in managing their life decisions. Dr. Black aptly reminded us, “God’s word is true, or it is not true. And God is not an author of confusion.” With Christ as the author and perfecter of our faith, He is also the provider of clarity of understanding and how to live our lives and make good decisions. More than anything these days, our students need a “stake in the ground” as a place to attach their lifeline – a place to always come back to as they test the enormous challenges to their beliefs that dictate their conduct. Let Jesus Christ be their “stake in the ground,” the “reference point,” the place to which they always return to provide a productive way to live their lives. That is what I want my classroom to represent.

In all that I teach it is the foundation. Whether it is math, science, or social studies, how God is interwoven in those things is a part of it.

My belief in Jesus informs the way I do everything. For starters, I view all of my students as created in the image of God. I know they are fallen creatures who need a savior. I realize that we are all sinners in need of a savior. This knowledge allows me to treat each person with love and respect because they are made in the image of God. It allows me to integrate my teaching styles because I know He created each child uniquely. It allows me to share my testimony and the Gospel with them because I know they need a savior.

I became a new born believer in Christ when I was 18 years old. Since then I wanted to be a missionary. I love teaching at a Christian shool because this is my mission field. We do not only teach academics we disciple and evangelize our students. I take every opportunity I have to share the Gospel with my students. I am so thankful that at my school that is encouraged. My belief in Jesus Christ drives my lesson plans and the activities we do. I take advantage of every teachable moment, and they come often, to teach to the heart issues using biblical principles.

My belief in Christ is so important and I want my students to feel that from me. I feel blessed I have been given the opportunity to work at a Christian school and share my love of Christ through what I teach.
