Jesus Christ is everything to me, therefore all my teaching points back to Jesus Christ. I have always said if in my teaching I fail to point that teaching back to the Gospel, then I have failed my students. If they are not given the opportunity to have revealed to them the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, I am not properly teaching them. For that reason, all teaching should be focused around Him, not using Him to focus on teaching.

As a believer in Christ, I let my faith guide me in designing practical learning experiences that inspire my students to explore knowledge. During certain courses, I also reference John 3:16 and emphasize how it applies to everyone regardless of background. By understanding this concept, students can analyze their communities and address social disparities in those communities from a faith-based perspective.

My belief in Jesus Christ is what led me to applying to a Christian school. My heart’s desire is to pour out the truths of God’s love to children and those around me. My faith influences my classroom rules, morals, conversations, and honesty from me to my students. It shapes how I do everything and I am so grateful that I get to freely express that and teach students about the truth of God’s word!

We begin course with prayer. I also have a playlist of music with Christian artist and I’ll play that in the background often times. We engage in worship and the students have heard a number of my favorite worship songs. We also have discussions over historical events of the Bible and who Jesus is.

I challenge my students to be kind to one another, and to love God above all else. Easter just passed, but before it was here, we practiced a song celebrating that Jesus is alive, not dead. We still have fun singing the song and rejoicing in this truth. I remind my students that we serve a BIG God not a little one, etc.
