My instruction in the classroom come from prayer and supplication. We discuss worldviews and how it relates the the subject that I’m teaching.

In my prayers, I talk with God and ask him for help in my daily interactions as a teacher. Now, I can also pray with my students. My vision here may sound harsh to those working in a public school system, but I started out teaching in a public school as a Christian thinking I could be that Christ-like role model for students. Slowly, with the turn of society, I was asked to condone non-Christlike behaviors from staff and students as well as new philosophies that I believe are not what Christ would want for this world. This condoning or keeping quiet made me feel false, like a traitor to my heavenly Father. Any efforts to portray Christ-like values in the public school ended up being looked upon as close-minded, bigoted rigid, not a team player, etc. I knew it was time for me to go somewhere where Christ was allowed to be honored and celebrated like I could do 10-15 years ago in public school.

The first way belief in Jesus influences my Classroom is in my life personally. As a Christian it is the greatest single thing about me: that I have been saved by the blood of Jesus. This fact influences everything I do, in and outside of the classroom. Outside of my personal faith which drives everything I do, It is the central focus of my classroom instruction. As a Bible Teacher, I have the privilege to talk about Jesus every day! Whatever the subject matter for the day, it ties to the person and work of Jesus.

My belief in Jesus Christ has a major impact and influence in how I interact and communicate with my students in and even out of the classroom. It affects my daily life and how I choose to speak and act. Having a belief in Christ also allows me the opportunity to communicate with my students and share my thoughts and belies with them that have Jesus Christ as the foundation.

Being connected to Jesus is the only way I can meet the diverse needs of the students. As I see myself as a uniquely created human being who is loved by her creator, I can see my students in that same light. I can serve and guide them as I am strengthened and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
