First and foremost, when I teach students I see them as children of God who were made in God’s image. In stepping into a teaching role, I am utilizing the spiritual gifts that God gave me so when I teach I am being obedient to what God has called me to do. Therefore, I take my role as a Christian educator very seriously and look for opportunities to encourage the students in their faith by reading scripture and praying with them.

My faith plays a role in how I implement curriculum. I try to infuse biblical worldview into lessons. I also purposely try to have a relationship with my students based on a biblical worldview and influence them to think of themselves and their relationships in relation to how God wants us to treat others. I try to address student conflicts by thinking of Bible stories that correlate to the problem or emotionally regulate students through prayer.

My faith in Jesus Christ affects everything I do in my classroom. Without my faith, what standard do I have to base what is right and wrong. My classroom’s standards are based on what the Bible says.

Jesus Christ influences everything I do in the classroom, from redirecting students to teaching, curriculum, and interactions with parents. It is all with the thought, “How would Jesus Christ approach this?”
