In what ways have you seen hypocrisy in the church negatively impact the church’s witness to the world? What do you feel is the best way to eliminate hypocrisy in the church?

The image the church body gives to the world can come off as rude and arrogant and people in the world see that and assume that is what all Christians are like. To eliminate hypocrisy, we need to do a better job of calling each other higher and reflecting on our own actions more than we do others.

I have seen Pastor’s call out people right from the pulpit about their faults and wrong doings. That does not match how Jesus told us to deal with the people that are incorrect. Make people accountable for what they say and do (follow what Jesus said), but I am not sure even that would work.

It’s not the world that causes so much pain as it is the hypocrits in the family of God. Much like sibling jealousy, individuals are hurt by hypocrits. In Revelation, the Bible tells us, the saints overcame by the Blood of the Lamb and the power of their testimony. Testimonies spoken or lived out have power. When folks say they Love and serve the Lord, with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other, yes then what other questionable activities are allowed in the Family of God?

I think it boils down to not be willing to love one another. There seems to be competition to try and outdo one another instead . None of us are perfect and should be growing in Christ instead of thinking we have already arrived.

Over and over we are confronted with examples of Church leaders twisting the Word to fit their needs. Preaching that God will fill wallets and garages, hate toward different People. God loves and wants us all, he hates the sin not the sinner
