In your own words, describe the “war” discussed by Dr. Dodson in this lesson.

I have to be aware and on guard at ALL times to the battle between my fleshly desires and my desire to be obedient to God through holiness. I can’t accomplish this on my own. When temptation comes, I must learn to cry out to Jesus for help. The Holy Spirit promises to give me a way out and I must listen and take it. As described in the lesson, using this method will help me lean on God’s help and not my own strength. I cannot fight against Satan nor his demons and expect to win without the strength and power of God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit. This is a spiritual battle for my soul.

Your desire is to walk in the Spirit but the flesh takes control of you. There is a constant war going on between the Spirit and the flesh.

The “war” is the continuous battle that exists within us. The battle is between the Holy Spirit and the flesh. The Holy Spirit is sent from God to guide us and helps us live more like Christ. While the flesh, is of this world, sinful and demonic. The ultimate battle between good and evil.
