War is the pressure, struggle, temptation of this world verses walking with/in/by the Spirit.

The war is between demonic powers and the Spirit of God. The Demonic powers work through human nature and demonic spirits. Carnal men choose to ignore their freedom by living self centered and prideful lives. The Spirit of life offers an escape from carnality. The Holy Spirit teaches us what Jesus would do, and He shows us how to follow Jesus’ example.

Having been given the freedom to walk-in the righteousness of Christ there is now a turf war going on for our souls as the enemy ramps up the old fleshly desires in us to keep us bound to these desires. But as Jesus bought our freedom , He also empowers us to walk in this freedom by giving us His Spirit to walk in righteousness.

This is “spiritual warfare”, something I have learned about my entire Christian life. Now that I believe I’ve come to something of an understanding there are church people all around me who see it in a totally different way and it is wreaking havoc in my little town. Spiritual warfare is not flesh and blood warfare, rather it is about spiritual enemies in “high places” most of whom we can’t see much less come against without the power of God in us. It is the essence of being a Christ follower or not being a Christ follower but rather some sort of “sham” created by this present evil world and its demonic leaders. I think that those who continue to fail to realize this reality are doomed to exist in an unreality that I see around me every day.

The war is the internal battle waging inside to resists the things of the flesh and the desire to do good according to the Holy Spirit.
